I have a 6 month old Australian Cattle Dog/Siberian Husky mix who is very energetic, eats (and ...goes) a lot, and is my first pup in about 14 years. I figured dog food had advanced quite a bit (as has the internet) since I was last on the hunt, and I followed the dog food research rabbit hole over my morning (and sometimes into mid-afternoon) coffee for two weeks trying to find the best thing possible. This is it. Medium-sized dogs of the ACD variety should have no less than 30% protein, 15% fat in their dietsthis is over that somewhat, but not too much, because he is not going to be a large dog, he'll probably max out at 50 lbs, and large dogs over 60 lbs should not have too much protein in their diets as pups. I don't mean to digress, but it's important information.
This food has the best range and combination of nutrients I've ever seenbok choy, berries, alfalfa, human-grade meatschicken, turkey, etcand I would eat it myself if I were in a pinch! Often, even high-quality dog foods skimp on variety, and we know from human nutrition that nutrients should come from a wide source of foodseven if your chicken and broccoli and rice dog food is organic and lovely and whatnotI'd rather my pup get berries and veggies and vitamins and a variety of good-quality proteins than good-enough, but not-fantastic foods.
This company, Horizon, is located in Canada, but family-owned, sources their produce locally, and makes everything in-house to the highest standards of quality. And you'll never hear about a recall with a company like thatwell, nobody ever has from this one.
It's also affordable. f you don't have to compromise your dog's health or happiness for any reason, don't.

I normally love amazon, but I also received expired dog food. Ordered it late November, and the bag expired 9/10! An oversight I'm sure, but very disappointing.

Horizon Legacy is high quality dog food that I am willing to pay a premium for.. However, paying a premium for expired food just doesn't seem right. I ordered the food at the end of November, and the food that was sent expired last September. Very disappointing.

I have been using this food for years with my pregnant females as well as weaning puppies. My other adult dogs are on the adult formula. Excellent results. My local distributor actually toured their facility in Canada and said it was very clean and well ran. Best place he has ever seen, and he has seen many horrible facilities.
