They know the problems with this collar and promised me new ones in mid January when they were available,but we still can't rely on the door. The collar is such a cheap piece of plastic they suggested that I use plastic ties to keep it closed. This causes a lot of trouble for my dogs and for me. Can't believe I have to pay another $40 to get a replacement for the worthless collar.

I have had an electric door and I have 3 dogs. The collars tend to be expensive and I had gone through a bunch because the tops come off when my dogs play. I find that if you put some duck tape or electrical tape around the ends of the box, they will last for quite some time. Even when your dog (like my dummies) who just stand by the door and it goes up and down up and down up and down (so frustrating) but i love my door and I never have to worry about animals or strange people just climbing through unless a dog is going out, then the person would be face to face with 3 pit bulls :)

Door worked like a charm and solved our problem BUT collar broke in less than a month and we were stuck with a door that wasn't able to be used as designed. Frustrating. I ordered another collar and have reinforced it with clear tape but I can see the potential for the collar replacements to become a money pit. Dog was still wearing his broken collar, the problem is that the plastic part covering the battery had fallen off and the battery and cover were gone. If this problem continues we will be forced to remove the door and go back to the old fashioned kind that also allowed our cat to go out.

I have 3 dogs and have purchased 2 of these automatic doors. I had a contractor and electrician put the doors in and they work just fine. The collars however are made so cheaply and are difficult to get on & off. They need to be made of a higher quality material with a snap closure. I have to use rubber bands to hold the transmitters together (one fell apart in the yard and I never found the pieces). Finally, the expense of the batteries that last less then 3 months needs to be taken into consideration before buying this product. I loved this door, easy to set up, dogs use it very easily and they are 100 pound labs. Here is the problem. The collars that you have to purchase separately are very poorly made. First I purchased the Ms2. After 2 weeks it fell apart. Next I purchased the MS2A collars rugged. Only wanted the best at that time for my dogs. The way these were designed the door did not always open. Someone said it was due to the way they were made it blocked the signal strength. So when these stopped working 4 months later went back to the MS2 but put electrical tape around it so it would not fall apart. This worked for 2 months then when the batteries died I bought new batteries but they never worked again. So I then decided to purchased the rechargeable RX10 seemed to work great so purchased another one. Next thing you know It will not charge on the charger. Back to check out the new MS5 worked great did not fall apart, Then one day it stopped working thought it was the battery. Bought new batteries, put them in and it does not work. 1 year and a total of 9 collars for 2 dogs and nothing but problems and a total of close to $1000 spent. Have contacted High Tech through their web site but they never respond. I have a grave yard of collars and it stinks. Question now Do I buy a new door or continue spending good money after bad.......Don't buy this door or collars. Research other options it will cost you a fortune.
