This is my first review on Amazon, but I am so impressed with this product I had to share.

When you open the bag, the first thing you will notice is how vibrant the color is and how fresh it smells. Nothing is stuck together and it reminds me of instant potato flakes. When you add water to it, you will smell it in the next room, it smells like freshed cooked meat loaf.

I have been home preparing my dog's food for almost 10 years now and havn't really found a premix my dogs liked. But let me tell you, the minute I added warm water to this and mixed it into their meat mix, they smelled it and were waiting to eat it up.

I have a female American Eskimo that is very picky about her food and a male EskiePom that has a sensitive tummy. Both dogs licked their bowls clean and neither had any tummy issues or loose stools. That was 3 weeks ago and they are still cleaning their bowls.

I am excited to try more products, because if they are anything like this one, I will be thrilled!

I LOVE this pre-mix, I usually cook 2 x a week organic chicken for my dogs and then add the water with the chicken flavor to the premix, then I cut up the chicken, add Iceland Salmon oil, mix it all together, and my dogs LOVE me for this!

Grandma Lucy is awesome! Almost 90% of the ingredients are sourced in the USA and no ingredients are from Asia (unlike Honest Kitchen). Digestion is great on this food! I have to admit I rotate a lot (which is healthy for the dog) and also use Addiction, Health extension, Fromm, K9 natural raw and Ziwipeak (in my opinion these are the VERY BEST and SAFEST products on the market!). Of course I often cook my dogs food without the Pre mix, but this Pre mix helps to balance your meals and you don't have to think about ingredients, just add the meat!

The good thing is what this dog food doesn't have in it. The bad is that it has an over supply of potato flakes in it (for me at least) to make it worth the big price. Unfortunately, some of these dried dog foods are very expensive. We like Dr. Harvey's Miracle dog food which has whole dried veggies, etc. Here's what you need to know if you've never purchased this dogfood and are looking to prolong your dog's life. Grandma Lucy's usually contains dried meat right in it, unless you specifically buy one that does not contain meat. Dr. Harvey's doesn't contain meat, and has more whole veggies dried and other health specific ingredients. Dr. Lucy's contains vitamins.

So, what you need to know is that it's a trade off Lucy's dried meat/veggies/vitamins and Dr. Harveys, no meat and dried whole veggies, plus. So, we mix them both together (both no meat brands) so our pet will get everything, and then we add some oatmeal to make it last longer (not too much though cause they have oatmeal in them already), then we add a fair amount of olive oil which will help the dry skin. The best thing is to add a tiny bit of "fresh" protein to the top once in a while since especially older dogs need some energy. We don't want too much protein since that's not good for some other dog issues though. Our dog is 13 and had bladder stones removed. He has done fine on this mixture and goes to the bathroom pretty much three times a day on it. He was on bladder stone food and he was itching like crazy, big waste of money. It was very low on protein. We've been winging it, and this seems to be okay. Happy pretty black lab/border collie mix. If you have any bladder issues with your dog, we do not recommend :Purina One, since this is what our dog ate for years and had the stones, lots of them. Wonder if in some of these food they grind up the animal bones with the meat and call it calcium since our poor buddy had tones of stones. Don't know if there is a correlation or not. You be the judge.

My dog really likes this pre-mix better than the Sojo's. The appearance and consistency is better as well as the smell. While the price may be a higher than some of the other pre-mixes out there, the quality makes it worthwhile.
