With a house full of dogs, three of my own and two to six visitor-dogs at any given time, I've tried a lot of products. We had a recent issue when the topical flea treatment on one of the visitors failed. We have been paying $16 for 12 pig ears at a local store for our dogs, which is about $1.25 per ear. This pig ears from the local store are huge though. Now, I bought these Beefeater pig ears off of Amazon, 25 for $22. At this price, I paid about 88 cents per pig ear. I guess I got what I paid for. Unfortunately, these Beefeater pig ears are tiny compared to what we were getting! They are about 2 inches by 3 inches....it only occupies my dog for about three minutes. My dog is not the most food motivated creature I've met. I was surprised and continue to be surprised by how much she likes these! We are near the bottom of the bag and she still gets super excited for them. Great size/shape/texture disc the size of a .50 cent piece. Helps shedding but this version doesn't seem to taste as good as the older version. This "gravy" version makes my little guy turn up his nose. However, he eventually got used to it and both my dogs shed much less. It seems to be the only product available that truly helps to reduce shedding. My Yorkie just loves these. They are nice and small for her. She doesn't have many teeth left so the fact that they are chewy helps--not that she would be stopped from eating a treat.

I was first introduced to this snack at my dog's training classes at petco. He really enjoys them! The pieces are really tiny but you can tell that it is made from quality ingredients (it also smells really bad), but my dog loves it. my Great Dane/Plott Hound mix is a compulsive chewer. most items last a few minutes. I have learned to read all reviews on anything I buy and I now add reviews if something actually lasts for awhile. of all I have read and seen i do believe that "Frito" is the toy destroying" king. No other dog has come close.. wait... let me give him some credit.. he will not chew up anything that is not his. once I give it to him and tell him its his... well.. it is. so if he chews it up in 30 seconds. that's his to do. now the antler... i saw it and thought. hmmmmmm WTH? I have never heard of such a thing. So I thought why not. nothing else lasts. lets see what this will do. and.. It lasts !! for real !! he loves it. I've ordered him a few now. They are kind of like bones but I think they last longer. he will carry it around and meet people at the door with it as if hes really as impressed as we are with it. so if you have a chewer this is one that will last. like a bone of course it will eventually chew down and have to be replaced but it lasts weeks . nothing lasts weeks with this guy. I ordered the size "X to large" for my 90 pound dog. The piece of antler sent was exactly 8 inches and so narrow that it was clearly meant for a much smaller dog. Having purchased antler chews on Amazon before, I was expecting a more substantial piece for $23. In fact, I ended up purchasing an 11 inch antler, significantly wider in circumference, at my local pet shop yesterday. I have a box turtle that is a very finicky eater. He likes to eat whatever's not in season. Luckily, he seems to eat this pretty well. The product smells good and looked as if the turtle would really enjoy it, but it spoils really quick. It only took two days for it to start growing mold while in the refrigerator. We own an Australian Shepard who WAS getting ear infections frequently and always scratching. This started about two years ago. I finally took her to a new vet, (my old vet NEVER mentioned food allergies, hmmmm). Vet said chronic ear infections are usually due to food allergies and that we could try their food at $100.00 a 20lb bag. YIKES! We found NL Lamaderm at Wal-mart. We noticed after just a few days that Sheila stopped scratching. Needless to say really, the change of food,(which, by the way, she gobbled up),caused really bad gas. But after a few weeks that stopped too. No ear infections, no scratching. We are thrilled with this product. We pay less than $25.00 for a 20lb bag at Wal-Mart. My dog loves these!! He will do just about anything for one of these Canidae treats. I use them any time I have to do something he won't like. My Shih loves this food and I don't have to refrigerate any leftovers as there are none. I was feeding her another good dog food that comes refrigerated and while that was OK sometimes she wouldn't eat and since it isn't as good after 8-10 days I would end up throwing away some. Tried feeding her some cans of food that she likes, but after refrigeration, she wouldn't usually eat any more. Just a waste. Highly recommend.

This CoolDog mat is about the size of a place mat. The outer case is durable and of good quality. However, the ice pack that goes inside is flimsy and not durable. After just three rounds in the freezer, mine split in half and one of the ice cube sections is misshapen and looks ready to burst. It's too bad this company didn't put as much thought into the ice packs as they did the exterior. Also, the ice has pretty much melted within 15 minutes, so you don't get very much cool for your buck. For twenty-five dollars, this should be a much better product, especially since you'd need to buy three for a dog of larger size. The plastic material housing the water solution needs to be far more durable. It needs to be made of something that can withstand being frozen again and again without breaking or rupturing since continued use depends on refreezing. I recommend saving your money for now and waiting until there is a better ice pack.

I have a Siberian Husky and I have been trying to find something that will help keep him cool. When I found these I was so excited, but I had know idea how much I would LOVE them. When I got them I was very impressed with the quality and design. They were better than I had anticipated and my dog goes crazy for them. My shih tzu just fits on this mat if he lays straight, but it's not big enough for him to curl up on. It took him a while to feel comfortable laying on it, but now, when it gets hot, he is more than happy to lay down and stay cool. I'm going to order another insert since obviously the ice melts quick so my dog has to wait about 2 hours for the insert to refreeze. I work at a dog pound and bought this for a dog that had itchy, red, scaly skin for reasons that neither we nor the vets could figure out. Prior to this, we had tried various topical treatments (medicated sprays and baths, aloe gel), medication (steroids and antibiotics), changing kennel cleaner, switching foods and adding things like oils, sardines and apple cider vinegar to his diet. Nothing worked. Finally saw this at a pet store and thought, eh, why not give this a try? It's natural and at worst, nothing happens. Well within a few days of applying this to his skin there was noticeable improvement. He loved it too, whenever I brought out the bottle he would immediately lie down and roll over. It says you can add it to their food too but I never had to because he would lick up the excess. I was a little worried about that at first but his skin continued to improve in spite of that.
I'd highly recommend this for anyone who has a pet with itchy skin. As I mentioned above, even if it doesn't help it's all natural so it probably won't do any harm.

I'm a former Vet Tech and decided to try this chicken jerky after seeing all the recalls in the stores and the empty shelves that were left. I didn't know it was made in China until receiving the bags. I decided to give it to my dogs, one piece each. A couple of days after giving it to them before dinner each night, my two German Shepherds and an Australian Shepherd began having runny stools. A couple of days later, still giving them each one piece right before their dinner, I noticed all 3 eating grass in the back yard. Not being sure if it was the chicken jerky or not, I stopped giving it to them for three days in a row and their stool returned to normal. So I began giving them chicken jerky again only for their runny stools to show up again, and tonight 4/22/13, my 3-year old GSD threw up the chicken jerky all over the bed. THE JERKY I RECEIVED IS TAINTED WITH SOMETHING. It either has Salmonella in it or something else that makes my dogs sick. I'm lucky they're large dogs because I believe it may have killed a smaller breed. Amazon.com needs to stop selling this chicken jerky immediately!
I have photos (not that most people would want to see dog vomit and runny stool, but the vomit clearly shows it's chicken jerky that came up) but there is no way to add them to this review.

Last October I purchased a 3-pound bag of this product at Costco and stuck it in my panty until my French Bulldog puppy was old enough to chew it. At seven months, I unsealed the bag and gave her one piece. I could tell that she loved the taste as I watched her consume it.The next day, she wasn't at all interested in her morning feeding (this never happened before) and she was acting very weird. She was making very strange postures with her body (in hindsight this was probably a mild seizure). Then I noticed that during the night, she had had some bouts of diarrhea out of her dog potty on my laundry room floor. I took her to her vet and she sent in a fecal test to the lab. (The next day, the test came back negative.) The vet told me to feed her rice and chicken and gave me a feeding schedule along with Fortiflor powder to put on her food to build up the "good" bugs in her digestive tract. The vet diagnosis was that of Colitis.
Unfortunately, I didn't associate the eating of the chicken jerky treat with this incident so about two months later, I gave her another one of these treats and like before, she relished it. The next morning, again she was acting listless and wouldn't go near her morning feeding. This time she had fresh blood stains around her anus. I freaked out. I went to the laundry room and there was bloody diarrhea all over the place. I immediately took her to see her vet. Again, the vet sent in a fecal test which came back negative the next day. This time the vet prescribed a medication for Giardia (just in case) and an antibiotic and told me to put her on the rice and chicken diet again. My puppy was on this medication for a week to 10 days (I don't remember exactly).
I STILL didn't catch on to the chicken jerky/bloody diarrhea association, so last week I fed her another one of the chicken jerky strips. The next morning, I saw that she had bloody diarrhea again and FINALLY realized the association between feeding the chicken strip and my puppy getting sick! I am 100% POSITIVE that the treat caused my dog all of her gastrointestinal problems. I know that she is NOT allergic to chicken. I googled "Kingdom Pets Chicken Jerky" and found all kinds of reports of people experiencing similar reactions with their small dogs after feeding this treat. I only wish that I had realized the association earlier, and I could have spared my little girl a lot of pain and discomfort (and about (...) in vet bills).
I read the FDA warning on their website, I called Costco to report it, and I left a message on the Kingdom Pets Voicemail. I also phoned the FDA complaint coordinator in my area (N. California) and spoke to the S. California coordinator who told me that MANY similar complaints have been made about this product. I wonder how many complaints have to be reported before this product is banned? If this was a "people" food, I'm sure it would have been recalled immediately. However, since it's only for dogs... .
The Kingdom Pets man called me the next day and told me that the product had been thoroughly tested and found to be safe. He did admit that he was aware that some dogs were not able to "tolerate" the treat and that those owners should just NOT FEED IT. Of course he had to say that so his company would not be culpable. What a crock! I just hope that my nine-month old puppy hasn't suffered permanent damage to her organs.

Google it, says so under FAQ in the website. Your dog may like it, and not get sick from it, but that says nothing about kidney damage that may be happening. If you love your dog enough to give them treats, please be responsible enough to research what Might happen. So many dogs have loved eating something and then ended up with irreparable kidney damage and sadly, death. I was one of the lucky ones. My dog absolutely loves all chicken jerky, but after a year, she started throwing up blood. Long story short, stopped the chicken jerky and she got better. Doctor and I hope that no permanent damage done but we don't know. Too many dogs have died. Read labels and don't assume that because your dogs eat it and don't get sick that no damage is being done. How many times can a person run a stop sign and not get hit but one day you're not going to be so lucky. I can not believe these things are still allowed to be sold on the market. My dog died of kidney failure that was brought on by these treats.
