We ordered two of these to provide scheduled meals for cats. One is diabetic, and needs to stay on schedule, and these give us the freedom to miss a scheduled mealtime without problem.
One of the two feeders did not work upon arrival, but customer service with the seller was fantastic. She opened and tested a replacement and put it in the mail immediately, before I had even shipped the defective one back.
The feeders really aren't hard at all to program and set up. It took only a couple of tries to get the hang of it, and requires no thought at all now.
I LOVE the audio recording that plays to let the pet know that the feeder is open. We first tried recording voice calling the cats and they seemed indifferent to that. We then recorded us shaking the food bag, and that brings them running every time!
The unit is easy to manage and easy to clean. We place plastic jar lids the kind you can buy by the dozen for making homemade jams inside each compartment to hold wet foods. They slip around a tiny bit as the cats eat, but they manage it easily, and we can just toss the lids in the dishwasher after each use. That allows us to go quite a bit longer before washing the inner tray of the feeder.
Batteries last a very long time in these feeders. Ours have been running almost daily and every night for almost a year now on the same set of batteries, with no problems whatsoever.
The only thing I would change about the feeders is the time keeping mechanism. One runs a littler slower than the other, so over the course of a week the feeders open farther and farther apart from one another. This means piggy cat can scarf down food from one feeder, and be ready to "help" the other cat by the time the second feeder opens.
Once or twice a week, I have to change the time on one of the feeders to keep them from getting too far apart. It only takes a minute and is not that big a deal, but more accurate clocks/timers would remedy this. It does seem like a "high end" pet product like this could include an accurate clock.
All in all, though, this product has made our lives much, much easier!

I've had this feeder for a little over a month and it works great for out cat's wet food. I use a blue ice pouch in the top compartment and a sheet of blue ice underneath the unit to keep the wet food fresh all day. I also refrigerate the wet food so it is cold when it goes into the feeder. I wouldn't go past one day with wet food with this feeder, it would start to spoil on the second day. I did write to the manufacturer, LAVA Electronics, to see if I could purchase extra food trays and you can do so. Having extra trays on hand means you don't have to wash out the tray every night. You definitely need to read the instruction manual to program the feeder. It took me some trial and error to get it set-up properly but once I got it going it works great. I would definitely recommend this feeder for someone looking to provide their pet with meals several times a day. I mainly use this for an overweight cat that I recently adopted. He gets a measured amount of wet food 4 times a day to keep his appetite in check. I can't leave food out for him all day otherwise he eats it all. He's a pretty determined cat when it comes to food and he's big, but he's hasn't been able to "break into" the closed sections of the food tray for his other meals. This is a great product.
