These bowls are sturdy plastic and fit great in our dishwasher. I thought they would be a heavier resin, but they may be a more hollow plastic. So far, they've worked fine with our labradors, so they should be able to withstand use by most dogs.

my dog really likes this bowl. i put all of her treats into one and she has fun picking them out and playing with them. the crock dish is very nice but it is lightweight in my opinion. but it is still very nice and what a great price too. i am very happy with this purchase and so is my 12 lb. chihuahua. the inside diameter of the bowl is 7 3/8's inches and the bowl is just about 3 inches tall.

This was way less expensive at Amazon than where I saw it locally. My pit is not allowed to "play" with it, but it still gets tossed around a bit. It has survived way longer than any of his other bowls, including a metal one that eventually lost its rubber ring and got a nick that was sharp.

I bought this as an outdoor water bowl. It holds water just fine, but it collects mildew/dirt that won't come off at the bottom of the bowl. It's also unfortunately easy for my dog to chew on but that's more my problem. I would recommend it more as an indoor bowl.
